From a Staff Member

This week, in 2015, I volunteered at camp for the first time. The four summers that followed at 565 Ashford Center Road and these past two years in Philadelphia filled my life with a deeper purpose than my 18-year-old self ever expected to find in a lifetime.

When I close my eyes and think of these last few years, I see quiet afternoons spent at the boathouse or awards nights where the energy around me in the theater could only possibly be measured on the Richter scale. I see an oncology clinic playroom packed with laughing patients. And I see some of the most incredible patients, campers, and their families whose camp journeys happened to intersect with mine – some for years, some for a week, some even just for an afternoon at the hospital.

Across all these scenes, I see the incredible people around me wearing name badges or lanyards, giving everything they have towards making magic and doing good. You all have been some of my closest friends and biggest inspirations, and it’s been a privilege to be your colleague.
