This is a temporary role, with an hourly rate of $25 per hour.

Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides "a different kind of healing" to thousands of children with serious illnesses and their families annually - all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Conn, in dozens of hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities and through other outreach activities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Position Description:
Responsible for repairs, general maintenance work, both interior and exterior, of buildings and offices.
Our Temporary Buildings Technician can expect to...
- Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting, and concrete masonry.
- Move furniture and other items, as requested.
- Light building and prop construction for Camp activities.
- Be available to assist other facility staff in their work, as needed.
- Perform weekly fire pump tests.
- Serve as a backup for pool maintenance and operation.
- Perform monthly inspections including HVAC filters, emergency lights & exit signs, and fire extinguishers.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Our Temporary Buildings Technician should have...
- Three years of experience in building trades: HVAC, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical Work. Strong carpentry skills and experience preferred.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations related to areas of assignments.
- The ability to establish positive relationships with a variety of people in multicultural environments.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize work day while completing projects independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- The ability to operate a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Familiarity with computers.
- The ability to communicate clearly with Facility Director and other team members.
- The ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
- The ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends and on call hours as needed.
- A valid Driver's license and driving record which meets HITWG insurance carrier requirements. Ability to travel to assigned worksites.
