We are saddened to share that there was a fire at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp this evening. We are extremely grateful that it appears nobody was injured, but can confirm that our Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Cooking Zone and Camp Store buildings were all destroyed. We deeply appreciate the quick response of the local fire departments and Connecticut State Police Troop C. Although the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, what is known is that The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a community devoted to hope and healing. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was notified by Blackbaud, Inc., a service provider that hosts our donor database, that they discovered and stopped a ransomware attack that culminated in May 2020. According to Blackbaud, prior to locking the cybercriminal out, a copy of a subset of data was removed from their servers, which prompted Blackbaud to pay the cybercriminal’s demand with confirmation that the copied data was destroyed. Although Blackbaud assured affected organizations that encrypted data such as bank and credit card information were not accessed during this attack, it is possible that other donor data such as contact and demographic information as well as details of relationships to Camp – including gift dates and amounts – may have been exposed.

From The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp's beginning, Founder Paul Newman inspired other hands and hearts to make his dream their own in pursuit of providing "a different kind of healing" to seriously ill children. Sam "Rollo" Ross answered that call, lending his expertise in residential programming for children, which helped shape Camp's programming. We are grateful for his endless passion for Hole in the Wall, which stemmed from his love of children and his conviction that a community of acceptance and understanding brings healing.
