Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Named Finalist in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good Program
Organization Seeks Votes on May 26 to Win a Car to further its missionof serving seriously ill children and their families
New Haven, Conn. – May 21, 2012 – Saturday, May 26 will be an exciting day for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, the camp founded by Paul Newman in Ashford, Conn. to serve children with cancer, sickle cell anemia and other life-threatening illnesses. Beginning at 10 a.m., friends of the Camp will have the opportunity to vote for the charity to win a new Toyota at www.carsforgood.com. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was recently selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in the 100 Cars for Good program sponsored by Toyota, a major philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is donating 100 cars to 100 charities over the course of 100 days. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.
Each day, through August 21, 100 Cars for Good is profiling five finalists at its web site www.carsforgood.com. Members of the public may cast their vote for the nonprofit they think can do the most good with a new vehicle. The nonprofit with the most votes at the end of each day will win one of six new Toyota models. Runner-up charities will each receive a cash grant of $1,000 from Toyota.
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp will be up for voting on Saturday, May 26.from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. The web site also allows voters to see how their charity of choice ranks in the voting process at the time of their vote.
“All of us at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp are thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for the Toyota 100 Cars for Good program,” said the Camp’s Director of Development Ken Alberti. “We appreciate the opportunity to broadly share information about our mission to provide ’a different kind of healing’ to children battling life-threatening illnesses and their families. A new car will help us bring more seriously ill children to Camp and, through our outreach program to hospitals, bring Camp to more seriously ill children than ever.”.
