Bereavement Camp

For families who have lost a child aged 0–18 to serious illness, this overnight program includes a total of three weekends over the course of 12 months where families will find connection and a community of support among others who understand their experiences of loss. Families share in Camp activities, participate in group sessions facilitated by a trained bereavement specialist and gather each evening to remember and celebrate the children who have died. The bereavement specialists offer grief activities for children, teens, young adults and adults.

This program is designed specifically for families who have had a child aged 0-18 die from a serious illness and is open to families whose child has previously been a Camper as well as those who have not previoiusly attended The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

Dreams Come True

Julian has been wanting to go to a camp “just like his big brother” for years and that is something I never thought would be possible until I heard about The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp! Speak Feelings Aloud

Since Kassandra’s passing, I do everything to keep her legacy and her name alive… but the [Bereavement Program] was my first time speaking out loud about my feelings. I never talked to anyone, not even my wife, about how I was feeling. I broke down when I walked in and heard other dads were having similar feelings to what I was going through. It felt like this only happened to us, but it can happen to anyone.

Day of Rememberence

For families of campers who have passed away, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp offers a Day of Remembrance, an opportunity to gather together with other families walking a similar path to honor their children. The Day of Remembrance continues a family’s connection to Camp, and allows the family to be reminded of their child’s experiences at Hole in the Wall as they participate in a day filled with Camp activities.
