Through laughter around the camp and especially when we all come together for meals together, stage night, and quiet moments, the various activities… this place became more than just a camp. It became a home. You reminded us that healing isn’t just medical—it’s emotional, it’s spiritual, and it’s found in community. I like the theme “A different kind of healing”; it fits so well with this camp.

As a camper, I was still learning about Camp and connecting with the Camp as a whole, but as a Champion, I think I connected much more with the people I was with instead. I was able to truly connect with every single person I was with, along with learning more about myself.

Since Kassandra’s passing, I do everything to keep her legacy and her name alive… but the [Bereavement Program] was my first time speaking out loud about my feelings. I never talked to anyone, not even my wife, about how I was feeling. I broke down when I walked in and heard other dads were having similar feelings to what I was going through. It felt like this only happened to us, but it can happen to anyone.
