34th ANNUAL BIG APPLE BASH
Saturday, November 8, 2025
On a crisp fall day in New York City, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp hosted its 34th Annual Big Apple Bash, featuring a lively private performance of the Big Apple Circus and festive reception at Tavern on the Green. Thanks to the extraordinary fundraising efforts of “Bandit Brigade” Presenting Sponsors American Packaging Corporation and LiDestri Foods, along with the generosity of hundreds of Camp champions, the event raised more than $1.8 million to support Hole in the Wall’s expanding programs.
The morning began at Big Apple Circus, where supporters joined Camp families from across the Tri-State area for face painting, clown noses, popcorn, and plenty of smiles before gathering together under the big top. The cast delivered a captivating performance—from daring trapeze artists soaring above the ring, to playful clowns, skilled balancing act, and talented dogs showing off their tricks. Jugglers, acrobats and contortionists kept the crowd in awe, while vibrant costumes and a spirit of pure joy brought the magic of the circus to life for everyone in the Camp community.
Later that evening, the celebration continued at Tavern on the Green, which was transformed into a series of themed rooms including “Welcome to New York,” “Comic Book Heroes,” “Summer Camp” and “Garden Disco.” Beloved characters like Sofia the First and Spider-Man greeted guests, while Mr. and Mrs. Met spread cheer with high-fives and hugs. Balloon artists, caricaturists, arts and crafts, temporary tattoos, and a lively Pac-Man Battle Royale added to the fun. Guests enjoyed cocktails, mocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert buffets, while a classic New York–style hot dog and pretzel cart rounded out the offerings.
The night’s program kicked off with camper Leyma serving as host, welcoming friends of Camp while Hole in the Wall’s Chief Development Officer Robin Farrell and Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Canton shared heartfelt gratitude, important updates, and moving stories about Camp’s impact. Then Leyma returned to the stage to reflect on what Camp means to him, sharing that when life feels overwhelming, his memories of Hole in the Wall remind him he is enough and to keep moving forward. Big Apple Bash Co-Chairs Stefani LiDestri and Peter Schottland then expressed appreciation for the many partners who made the evening possible—and who help provide transformative Camp experiences to children facing serious illnesses like Leyma. Closing out the program, Leyma delivered a show-stopping rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” that had the crowd on their feet cheering for more!
Following the program, the reception buzzed with energy as the DJ kept the dance floor full, from the first song to the last. Guests of all ages joined in, making requests, dancing, and filling the venue with joyful voices singing along. From start to finish, the Big Apple Bash was an unforgettable celebration of Hole in the Wall’s community and mission!
