Following a significant fire at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp on Friday, Feb. 12, CEO Jimmy Canton announced today that a $1 million match initiated by The Travelers Companies, Inc. and the Travelers Championship to inspire community support has been achieved.
The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) and the Travelers Championship today announced a joint commitment to match up to $1 million in donations to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in the wake of a significant fire on Friday, February 12, that destroyed a number of buildings on the grounds of the camp in Ashford, Connecticut.
We are saddened to share that there was a fire at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp this evening. We are extremely grateful that it appears nobody was injured, but can confirm that our Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Cooking Zone and Camp Store buildings were all destroyed. We deeply appreciate the quick response of the local fire departments and Connecticut State Police Troop C. Although the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, what is known is that The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a community devoted to hope and healing. We will get through this in the way that we always have and always will – as a family.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hole in the Wall has pivoted its programming in every possible way during a critical time when seriously ill children and families are experiencing even more significant challenges and isolation than usual. Here are some of the ways Hole in the Wall has really adapted to provide "a different kind of healing" in different ways during a very different and difficult time.
