The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s signature summer program offers week-long residential Camp sessions for seriously ill children aged 7 – 15 and their siblings. Campers participate in traditional camp activities, while receiving care from a significant, yet unobtrusive, medical presence.
For teens who have aged out of our summer camp program, we offer the Hero’s Journey® Program. Located in the woods of Connecticut, this weeklong program teaches self-reliance, positive communication and teamwork through wilderness first aid training and a variety of exciting challenges. The journey provides participants with opportunities to step outside comfort zones, discover more about themselves and become “the hero of their own story.”
The Leader in Training (LIT) Program offers campers who have aged out of our summer program leadership training and the chance to work with campers under the supervision of a mentor counselor and the LIT Coordinator.
The year-round Hospital Outreach Program (HOP) brings the hopeful, playful spirit of Hole in the Wall to children and families in the clinical setting. Taking the activities and experiences of Camp and transporting them to kids’ bedsides and playrooms, the program helps restore joy and laughter in a time of fear, stress and uncertainty.
CampOut brings the hopeful, playful spirit of Camp to current campers and their families right in their hometowns. The program helps the magic and connections of Camp continue throughout the year as a team of traveling specialists drive a whimsical van filled with camp-style activities, crafts and games to various locations throughout the Northeast.
Running in the fall and spring, Family Weekends continue the healing power of Camp beyond the summer months and create a memorable experience for the entire family. Families share in Camp activities and enjoy the company of other families who understand the issues they are facing.
Parent Programs bring the healing power of Camp to parents and caregivers. Year-round opportunities such as opening day parent picnics, parent work days and parent retreats held on and offsite, Parent Programs offer current camper parents a multitude of ways to expand their supportive community and connect with other Camp families.
Today, through summer sessions and family weekend programs at the Camp in Ashford, Connecticut, and year-round outreach to hospitals and clinics throughout the Northeast, the Camp serves more than 20,000 children and family members annually. All services are free of charge.
